Taylor Swift, full Taylor Alison Swift. American singer/songwriter who's achieved huge success with the tales she recounts about her early heartbreak. Swift showed an interest in the arts at a very young stage and progressed swiftly through roles in the children's theater to her first appearance before a crowd of thousands. Swift started writing songs at the age of 11. She performed The Star-Spangled Banner for a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game. Swift had taken her ideas from Shania's music and that of her band the Dixie Chicks now known as The Chicks in the world of music from the country genre, composed the songs of her own to convey the feeling of being alienated. Swift relocated from Pennsylvania together with her parents, to Hendersonville, Tennessee when she was 13 years old to dedicate more time to contacting country labels.
